"IoT for a Green Planet" International Conference for Industry and Academia
November 29 - December 1, 2010
Royal Park Hotel, Tokyo, Japan
http://www.iot2010.org/
**NEW** Since IoT2010 is technically co-sponsored by IEEE CRFID, accepted papers
will be published in IEEE Conference Publications Program, IEEE Xplore.
Important dates:
* Paper submission due: June 1, 2010
* Workshop proposal due: June 1, 2010
* Notification of acceptance: July 1, 2010
* Camera-ready submission of accepted papers: August 1, 2010
The "Internet of Things (IoT)" disrupts with the today's Internet
limitations of human-entered data: technologies like RFID, short-range
wireless communications, real-time localization, and sensor networks
empower computers to perceive the world for themselves. Standardized
infrastructures capable of managing, sharing and processing this
captured data will be necessary in order to bring the Internet of Things
into commercial use.
This interlinking of physical world and cyberspace foreshadows an
exciting endeavour that is highly relevant to researchers, corporations,
and individuals.
This conference will continue the success of the Internet of Things
conference from 2008 in Zurich. It brings internationally leading
researchers and practitioners from both academia and industry together
to facilitate sharing of applications, research results, and knowledge.
The IoT2010 particularly encourages research on infrastructure and
applications facilitating environmentaly responsibility under a theme
"IoT for a Green Planet".
The three-day event will feature keynotes from industrial and academic
visionaries, technical presentations of cutting-edge research, reports
on the user-experience from seasoned practitioners, panel discussions on
hot topics, poster sessions summarizing late-breaking results, and
hands-on demos of current technology.
Be sure to mark your calendars if you want to know more about:
* Green by Internet of Things / Green of Internet of Things Technology
* Design of future sustainable technologies linking the physical and virtual world
* Novel services and applications to facilitate environmental responsibility
* Emerging Internet of Things business models and process changes
* Communication systems and network architectures for the IoT
* Experience reports from the introduction and operation of networked things in areas such as healthcare, logistics & transport
* Emerging applications and interaction paradigms for everyday citizens
* Social impacts and consequences, such as security, privacy, opportunities and risks
Submissions must be original work and cannot have been published
elsewhere, nor can they be under concurrent review for publication by
another conference or journal. Confidentiality of submissions is
maintained during the review process.
Since IoT2010 is technically co-sponsored by IEEE CRFID, accepted papers
will be published in IEEE Conference Publications Program, IEEE Xplore.
Paper submissions should be anonymized to facilitate blind review.

Scope:
Research topics such as Grid and Peer-to-Peer computing are relatively
recent. They are important for scale distributed systems and
applications that require effective management of voluminous,
distributed, and heterogeneous data. This importance comes out of
characteristics offered by these systems: the autonomy and the
dynamicity of peers, the decentralization of control, and the effective
and transparent sharing of
large-scale distributed resources. Today, Grid and P2P systems open
towards the management of large,
distributed, and heterogeneous data which raises new problems and
presents new challenges.
The main objective of this international conference on Data Management
in Grid and P2P Systems is to present the latest results in research and
applications, to identify new issues, and to shape future directions.

Knowledge Engineering and Knowledge Management by the Masses - EKAW 2010 : deadline extended
we would like to inform you that after receiving many requests we have
decided to shift the schedule for EKAW 2010 as follows:
submission of papers: April 18th
deadline for reviews: May 14th
notification of acceptance : May 28th
camera-ready papers: 18th of June
This is now more in line with previous editions of EKAW.
The decision has not been easy and we are aware of the fact that this
decision might compromise the perceived quality of the conference. However,
many of the requests received mentioned that the early deadline this year
might compromise the goal of attracting high-quality papers. Thus, we
interpreted this as a clear wish of the community to have the deadline
significantly later than originally planned by us.
The bottom line is that we have decided to shift the deadline in order to
increase the quantity and quality of papers submitted to the conference.
This update will appear on the website very soon. We kindly ask you to
spread the news among your peers who might be writing a paper for EKAW.
Needless to say, there will be no further extensions on this deadline.
Best regards,
Philipp and Sofia.

1st International Workshop on Distributed Control for Mission-Critical Applications in Wireless Sensor Networks (DCCA-WSN'10)
on
DISTRIBUTED CONTROL FOR MISSION-CRITICAL APPLICATIONS
IN WIRELESS SENSOR NETWORKS
(DCCA-WSN'2010)
In conjunction with 2nd ADHOCNETS-2010
(http://www.adhocnets.org/2010/index.html)
Victoria, British Colombia, Canada
August 17, 2010
Over the last decade, wireless sensor networks (WSNs) have attracted a
lot of attention
from the research community. With hundreds or thousands of sensor
nodes, a WSN must
employ distributed algorithms to support its applications because of
its high energy
limitation and short-range communication characteristic. Moreover,
these algorithms must
be highly localized as long distance transmissions are very expensive,
and would diminish
the network's overall lifespan. To accommodate the varying topologies
caused by node
failures and environmental changes, a WSN must be self-configurable,
highly scalable,
redundant, and robust.
The features of WSNs can be applied to a variety of applications for
environmental (e.g.,
agriculture, water, forest) monitoring, battle field surveillance,
health (e.g., elderly
people) monitoring, and industry process control. Most of these
applications have a high
level of criticality and cannot be deployed with the current status of
technology.
In addition to military applications that have an obvious criticality
level and very
specific usage, surveillance applications for critical infrastructures
and disaster reliefs
are also very important applications that many countries have
identified as critical
in the near future. For instance, disaster relief applications can
provide an effective
system to detect living human beings to help successfully manage a
disaster relief operation,
potentially saving hundreds of lives.
The aim of this workshop is to present the most recent research
advances in distributed
control for mission-critical applications in WSNs. Topics of interest
include but are
not limited to:
- Node organization and scheduling for mission-critical applications
- Quality of service (QoS) based routing for mission-critical applications
- Cooperative network control for mission-critical applications
- Controlled propagation and knowledge transmission for
mission-critical applications
- Data replication and availability for mission-critical applications
- Distributed/cognitive/bio-inspired data fusion for mission-critical
applications
- Mobile agents and fixed sensors interaction for mission-critical
applications
- Sound, video, multimodal sensors management for mission-critical
applications
- Trust and repudiation systems for mission-critical applications
- Multi-sensor data association/estimation for mission-critical applications
- Software architecture and supervision platform for mission-critical
applications
- Event, situation, behavior, threat modeling/recognition for
mission-critical applications
- Distributed object & scene recognition for mission-critical applications
Prospective authors should submit full papers for review. Only
original papers that
have not been published and are not currently under consideration for
publication
elsewhere, will be considered.

Papers should be submitted via the ASSYST system. See
